JB and Running Beagle Games presents: Five Ancient Kingdoms
Five Ancient Kingdoms (5AK) is ready for sale!
The link will be up later today for ordering, both domestic (U.S.) and otherwise. Here's what you'll be getting for your money: three booklets and four dice.
The interiors are black and white (and illustrated)...the scale is the same as the LBBs. I'll throw some interior photos up in a bit.
The price is going to be $24.99 plus shipping. There will also be a short adventure scenario included with the game (nothing fancy...it'll be picked up from the printer tomorrow).
Yay! A new game is born!

ReplyDeleteCongrats! I was just talking about this with the DM of my son's group. Looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteOf course I have to ask...PDFs?
@ Timothy: scheduled for releas on or by the 19th of this month. Books willbe available individually for a reduced price.
ReplyDeleteBoom. Ordered. Yea, insomnia!
ReplyDelete@ Steven:
ReplyDeleteYou, too?
(man, I have got to get to bed...)
Just a quick question from a loyal Polish reader (the shipping is gonna kill me) - is there any measure of character customization in the game beyond stats and class? Skills, other types of abilities to choose, to make your character unique?
ReplyDeleteForgot to ask, what should we expect for a shipping time frame?
ReplyDelete@ Zdan:
ReplyDeleteUgh. Sorry about the shipping. I'm already eating some of the cost myself, but I wish I could do you better. What would a copy of Pathfinder run to ship to Poland?
There is a minimal amount of customization, dependent on the class (there are four classes and eight subclasses)...it's mainly a "class-driven" game. Each character receives an "advantage" (akin to a feat or special skill) to represent pre-adventuring background, and each character will have a "motivation" that Influences the way the character gains XP for different behavior. Otherwise, spells, skills, gear, and fighting styles are the main points of customization.
@ Steven@@
Thanks for the quick answer JB. A copy of Pathfinder would run me even more as the shipping on that is even more overkill. Do not worry - I really like the game from what I'm hearing and I will buckle down for it eventually. Probably the only person from Poland to do so :) It's just that Numenera has eaten some of my gaming funds. But I really would like to support this and I understand shipping is big problem as far as costs go.

ReplyDelete(re: shipping)
This week will be a little slow because I will be assembling packets Wendnesday and Thursday an will be busy all Saturday at the convention (I'll try to get to the post office Friday). After this week, I'll be making mail runs at least once per week (Saturdays) and often Mondays. Delivery time varies from short (domestic) to outrageous (Europe and Asia), though usually not longer than 1-2 weeks.
Groovy. I'll put two weeks on my scheduler and cross my fingers! Thanks for the quick reply.
DeleteCongrats!! Tim mentioned me as the GM of his son's group and indeed I am looking forward to seeing this but I will be looking for pdf's. As I get older harder to read that small print sometimes! ;)
ReplyDeleteWoo-hoo! More Gaming Goodness (tm) from Running Beagle!
ReplyDeleteDoes this game use ascending or descending AC?
ReplyDelete@ vfults:
ReplyDeleteNeither (why open THAT can of worms?).
; )
Where can I find out some more about this?
ReplyDelete@ Mike:
DeleteWhat exactly are you looking for? Reviews? There have been a couple partial ones scattered about...I can post links if you like.
Otherwise, some of the other blog posts on this subject speak about what's in the books.
