Don't Sass an Assassin (Part 4)

Or not! I have been axed from the campaign!

For my part, there are no hard feelings; I dug my own hole on this one.

It does, however, mean I will be getting back to my normal B/X posting.

  1. Does it really take all kinds? Hmmmm.

Well, at any rate, looking forward to more of your regular scheduled programming.

    Cheers!

  2. Wow,

That guy is even more . . . special than he comes across in his normal soapbox posts. Mountain out of a molehill much.

Looking forward to more Land of Ice.

  3. ...wow. Just...wow. I took the liberty of going over to Tao of D&D as well as the last couple posts of Alexis' campaign to read up on what went down. You're a better man than me, JB, because you're a lot more calm about the whole thing than I would be. That guy...woof! I'm trying to not say anything, because I don't have anything nice to say! It's no coincidence that I created my corny Stick in the Mud Award on my blog in honor of THAT GUY! Seriously, I just don't get it with that guy. I don't care how good his writing is, it doesn't alleviate the d-bag factor. OK, I'll shut up now. Can't wait for more of your good stuff, JB! Keep it coming, man.

    1. The thing getting overlooked by knuckleheads like DRANCE and Mike (the latter of whom I don't know so in fairness he may or may not actually be a knucklehead) is that THAT GUY was speaking for more than just himself and his own idiosyncrasies. I don't know how the other players in the game felt, I can hazard a pretty good guess at what Ahmet's player was thinking... but J.B. while I enjoy your blog and appreciate that you've owned up to you part in how your sacking came about... your entry into the party was completely uncool. That said, I was willing to chalk it up to a mis-communication and try work things out and play but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Best of luck to you JB, I'll still be reading along.

    2. @ James C.:

I appreciate your honesty. I actually DID have an email exchange with "Ahmet" (Butch) prior to my "sacking," and there didn't seem to be any issue at all.

I find it amusing that you take such offense at me called some guy THAT GUY when I don't know him and will never interact with him; while in the same post, you defend him for his degrading treatment of JB, with whom he actually had a real (albeit electronic) relationship.

Tao looks like he's made a neat and immersive game, I hope that you enjoy it. I just think he needs to take a breath and maybe a double shot of perspective.

    4. To be fair Mike, I did say you might not be a knucklehead.

  4. I very rarely read Tao of D&D ( Dumb and dumbest ), but after reading that you were booted I had to read what went down. Maybe you made a mistake or two, but the reaction was over the top, and unwarranted. Talk about an arrogant, egotistical, oh I guess I had better stop while I'm ahead...

JB, better to get booted now than much later. It was only bound to get worse. Sheeesh, it's a game.

  5. James C: First of all, you don't "know" me either. Any more than I know you. All I know is, I'm tired of people trying to explain how I "just don't get" Alexis. Blah blah, you're one of his biggest Kool-Aid drinkers, I know. If you think he's so great, good for you. I'd rather be a "knucklehead" than one of Alexis' gimps. Again, JB's a better man than me, because he took your smarmy comment in stride. Sorry, JB, I don't mean to rant on your blog. I'll stop now.

    1. Drance, you reveal yourself to be what you are each and every time you climb behind that keyboard, pal. Don't hide behind "you don't know me". I know you by your actions. If you're going to devote so much of your online energy to "knowing" other bloggers, be prepared when it comes back to you, is all.

      James

J.B. this will be my last comment on this topic clogging up your blog as well.

  6. The problem ( now that I've thought about it ), is that you weren't playing your character the way Alexis wanted you to play him. And since you weren't doing it "right", and hadn't read the entire campaign, and didn't know all the gazillion house rules, you were at fault! Truthfully, would your character know everything about the campaign? No. God forbid you play your character the way you want to play him!

    1. No, the problem was that he was being a total dick to the other players. JB has admitted as much, and in doing so I'd welcome him back to the table to try again.
