|The Oregon Trail: no mercy from this DM|
In other news: my son (and his class) were introduced to the old Oregon Trail video game by their 4th grade teacher. The game was a little after my time (I never had a chance to play it in school), but I'm familiar with the game by reputation. In class, the teacher did a demonstration with kids voting to see what choices they would make and, of course, it all ended in tragic death for the would-be pioneers.
My son was excited to try the thing solo when he got home with his Chromebook (he did not have positive things to say about his classmate's choices). He beat the game his first try through, paying careful attention to logistics and supply. "It's like D&D," he stated simply.
